Legislation
In April 2021, bills to regulate PFAS use in Alaska were introduced in the Alaska State Senate and Alaska House.
These identical bills (SB 121 and HB 171) are titled "An Act relating to pollutants; relating to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances; relating to the duties of the Department of Environmental Conservation; relating to firefighting substances; relating to thermal remediation of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substance contamination; and providing for an effective date."
(Short title: "PFAS Use & Remediation; Fire/Water Safety")

Among other things, these bills would set the following limits for PFAS in drinking water in Alaska (ppt = parts per trillion):

perfluorobutanesulfonic acid (PFBS): 420 ppt

perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA): 8 ppt
-
perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS): 16 ppt
-
perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA): 6 ppt
-
perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS): 51 ppt
-
perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA): 400,000 ppt
-
hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid (Gen-X): 370 ppt
